Phillippe Aumont's latest great outing and a two-homer night from another of the Mariners' top prospects leads the way in the minor league roundup.

Three Up

1. Phillippe Aumont, Wisconsin

Aumont was stellar in the longest outing of his career, picking up the win in Wisconsin's 4-2 victory over Peoria. His line on the night: 7 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K. The only run scored on a two-out wild pitch in the sixth inning. Aumont's ERA now stands at 1.47 for the year.

2. Michael Saunders, West Tenn

Saunders crushed two home runs on Tuesday in a 10-9 Diamond Jaxx win. He also walked twice and scored three times. Saunders is considered one of the top 10 prospects in the M's organization, and has been a steady producer all year for the Diamond Jaxx. The lefty hitter also has success against left-handed pitchers, hitting .288 with an .828 OPS against them. His .878 OPS overall is third on the team.

3. Yung Chi Chen, Tacoma

Chen has two hits, including a double, and drove in three of Tacoma's six runs in Tuesday's win over Salt Lake. Chen has driven in six runs in the last three games, and hit his third homer of the year on Monday. Chen is 8-for-18 (.444) during a modest five-game hitting streak. The M's have been looking for some signs of life from Chen, who missed all but five games last season with a shoulder injury.

The Lowdown

Tacoma 6, Salt Lake 2

The Rainiers split the series with the Bees after a win on Tuesday. Oswaldo Navarro and Tug Hulett each had two hits and two runs scored. Prentice Redman had his first homer of the season. Jeff Clement was a pedestrian 1-for-4 with two strikeouts. Jared Wells threw his third scoreless inning of work since being traded to the Mariners for Cha Seung Baek. He's given up only one hit in those three innings while striking out five.

West Tenn 10, Tennessee 9 (11)

The Diamond Jaxx came back from an early 4-0 deficit then rallied to tie the game with runs in the bottom of the 9th and 10th innings, before finally ending it with a run in the 11th. Luis Valbuena went deep in the 9th to make it 8-8, his sixth homer of the season. Brent Johnson was 2-for-6 with a home run, a double, and two runs scored. Matt Mangini was 2-for-5 with two RBI in his second game at AA. Justin Thomas started for the Jaxx and was hit with some tough luck. He induced ground ball after ground ball, but eight of them got by the defense for hits in five innings. Only two of his five runs allowed were earned, as shortstop Mark Kiger had a tough night in the field, committing three throwing errors.

Modesto 9, High Desert 5

The Mavericks dropped another road game in Modesto, their fourth consecutive loss and seventh in nine games overall. Gerardo Avila was 2-for-4 with a home run and a triple in his second game since being called up from Wisconsin. The Mavs held a 5-4 lead heading to the bottom of the eighth, but everything blew up from there. Aaron Cotter and Michael Wagner combined to allow five runs in the inning. Wagner gave up five hits and retired only one batter. Keith Renaud started for the Mavs and gave up three runs on eight hits in five innings.

Wisconsin 4, Peoria 2

The Midwest League announced that three Timber Rattlers will play in the league's all-star game on June 17th. Phillippe Aumont will be joined by infielders Edilio Colina and Juan Diaz. Diaz celebrated the occasion by going 3-for-4 in last night's win. Maximo Mendez continued his offensive tear with a two-hit night. Mendez is batting .400 (16-for-40) over his last 10 games, and now has a formidable .368 OBP for the year. With the Rattlers struggling to score runs, Mendez is providing a much-needed spark from the leadoff slot. Keith Meyer threw a scoreless ninth to get the save. He has allowed only 2 runs in his last 17 innings.
