2003 - Soriano blazed through his sophomore campaign with flying colors. In 40 appearances, the 23-year-old finished 3-0 with a 1.53 ERA. He also recorded 68 strikeouts in just 53 innings pitched while walking a mere 12 batters.
2002 - Luck wasn't on Soriano's side as the youngster lost all three of his decisions in his rookie campaign. He appeared in 10 games, eight of them starts, and had a 4.56 ERA.
Minor League Highlights:
Soriano ranked as one of the low Class-A Midwest League's top pitching prospects in 2000, posting an 8-4 record and 2.87 ERA at Wisconsin. Moving up through the ranks didn't slow his rapid development. Soriano split 2001 at Class-A San Bernadino and Double-A San Antonio, striking out 151 batters on the season and going a combined 8-5. The right-hander continued his success into 2002, leading San Antonio to the Texas League championship with a 14-strikeout performance in the final game. |
