| Selected in the fourth round of the 2002 draft from the University of Michigan (Scout: Scott May) ... Not an overpowering presence, Hill relies heavily on his off-speed pitches, particularly his sharp breaking ball ... Made his major league debut with the Cubs in June of 2005 ... Was 6-1 with a 3.60 ERA in 11 appearances for Triple-A Iowa in 2005 ... In 2006, Hill combined to go 7-1 with a 1.80 ERA and 135 strikeouts in 15 starts spanning 100 innings at Iowa ... Was 6-3 with a 2.93 ERA in 13 appearances, including 12 starts, for Chicago in the second half of '06 ... was named the organization's 2006 Pitcher of the Year, which he shared with left-hander Donald Veal. ... 2007: in his first full major league season, Hill combined to go 11-8 with a 3.92 ERA for Chicago in 32 starts, logging 195 innings. He struck out 183 batters and walked 63 ... 2008: made five starts with Chicago, going 1-0 with a 4.12 ERA in 19 2/3 innings. Demoted to Triple-A Iowa on May 3. |
