Acquired:
Drafted by Seattle in the 26th round (789th overall) of the 2001 amateur draft and signed by Mariners' scout Rodney Davis.
2004 Highlights:
One of the breakout performers in the M's minor league system, notching career-bests with a .303 batting average, 19 home runs, 95 RBI and 26 steals
Moved from first base to left field, where he thoroughly enjoyed playing
Still struggled with strikeouts, fanning 154 times in 499 at bats. Drew just 25 walks, but that too was a career-high
2003 Highlights:
Batted .264 with 16 home runs and 91 RBI at Wisconsin
Twice named Midwest League hitter of the week
Named the starting first baseman on the Midwest League All-Star team
Tied for league lead with 38 doubles
Had a 10-game hitting streak from Aug. 22-31
Batted .343 against left-handed pitchers

Made pro debut with Everett in 2002, and led Northwest League with 17 HR and 64 RBI

Homered six times over eight games from July 11-17, and was named Topps Player of the Month for July with eight home runs and 28 RBI in 27 games
