Signed by Seattle as a minor league free agent on Sept 18, 2002; signed by Mariners' scout Charley Kerfeld. Originally drafted by Anaheim as a pitcher in the 13th round (391st overall) of the 1998 amateur draft.
2004 Highlights:
Batted .310 in 42 games at Double-A San Antonio earning a mid-summer promotion to Triple-A Tacoma
Hit .320 in 197 at bats with the Rainiers playing right field, adding 9 home runs, 12 doubles and 30 RBI
2003 Highlights:
One of the best hitters in both leagues he played in. Batted .310 at San Antonio and .357 while with Inland Empire
Combined to hit 10 homers and 78 RBI for the year
Also did it with his glove, commiting just seven errors all season long
Had a season-high 10-game hitting streak from July 10-19
Reached base safely in 82 of 95 games
Finished first in the California League in batting average (.357), on-base percentage (.433) and slugging percentage (.576)
One of two 66ers to play in the California League All-Star game. Was named game MVP, going 1-for-4 with a RBI and a stolen base
