Suarez Charges Erie to Win (7/16 Recaps)

Eugenio Suarez homered and drove in three runs.

Tuesday was a slow day on the farm with only three teams in action, but all three of those teams were able to find wins. Erie used a three-run home run as part of six runs in the first three innings in its win while the GCL and DSL Tigers both earned big wins to hold onto first place in their respective divisions.

Erie staved off a late comeback attempt in Tuesday's game against Akron as the SeaWolves allowed one run in the ninth inning but topped the Aeros 5-2. Warwick Saupold earned a no decision in the start, allowing one earned run on five hits over four innings. Tyler Clark earned his first win of the season out of the bullpen. Eugenio Suarez led the way offensively with a two-run homer, his sixth of the season.

The DSL Tigers scored six runs in the first three innings of Tuesday's game against the Brewers and did not relinquish the early lead, topping the Brewers 7-2. Starting pitcher Carlos Lara evened his record to 2-2 after earning the win, allowing one earned run on four hits over five innings. Sandy Acevedo had the key hit in the game, a booming three-run home run in the third inning.

The GCL Tigers capitalized on a six-run fifth inning in Tuesday's game against the Phillies, coming from behind to top the Phillies 8-6. Confesor Lara earned a no decision in the start, allowing three earned runs on five hits over four innings. Andrew Harrison earned his first win of the season in relief and Ricardo Ciriaco earned his eighth save of the year. Steven Fuentes led the way for the Tigers offensively, going 3-for-3 with three runs driven in in the win.
