Halfway through the road trip, the Mariners have yet to encounter a bump on the road. The pitching staff has "Mech-ed" well and the offense has punished anyone who has attempted to stand in their way. Seattle will look to keep it going in Philadelphia with three games from Tuesday through Thursday.

WHO'S HOT?

Seattle:
Jamie Moyer comes into Tuesday's start tied for first-place in the American league in wins. Moyer is definitely the guy the M's want throwing against Philadelphia's Kevin Millwood on Tuesday. Millwood is tied for first in wins in the National League. On Thursday the Mariners will counter Brandon Duckworth with Joel Pineiro. Pineiro is coming off his best start of the year, a complete game shutout. Pineiro was very inconsistent 3-3 in May but hopes to get off to a better start in June. John Olerud boasted the best batting average for the M's over the last week with an impressive .474. This is a very good indication that the Mariners veteran first baseman is coming out of an early-season slump. Edgar Martinez had the second highest average (.423) over that last seven days and led the team in homers. Even though Martinez is one of the hottest hitters on the team, M's manager Bob Melvin has indicated that he will not play in the field for this series (due to the lack of a designated hitter in the national league). Look to see Edgar in a pinch hitting role in the late innings in the interleague games that are played in the national league parks.

Philadelphia:
Vincente Padilla is the only pitcher scheduled to pitch this series that is coming off a win. Don't let this stat fool you because the Phillies have one of the best young pitching staffs in the Majors. It is led by Millwood and, even though he is coming off a loss, he is tied for the league lead with seven wins. He has also thrown the only no-hitter in the Majors this year. Jim Thome hit .333 over the last week with 2 homeruns and 6 runs batted in. Thome is one of the few players on the Phillies who will be familiar with the Mariners pitchers because of his long tenure in the American League.

WHO'S NOT?

Seattle: The Mariners won all six of their games last week, and experienced realy only a few low points. Relief pitchers Giovanni Carrara and Shigetoshi Hasegawa both had an ERA of 13.50 while pitching two innings apiece.

Philadelphia:
Brandon Duckworth had a rough outing for the Phils in his last start, giving up four runs and seven hits in only 4.2 innings. Phillies slugger Pat Burrell had just two hits over the past week without an RBI, and continues to hover near the Mendoza Line for the season. Leadoff man Jimmy Rollins only had a .230 on base percentage with no stolen bases and five strikeouts in the last six gams.
