After playing just 27 games in 2008, missing all of 2009 and playing in 82 games last season, Dennis Raben was finally healthy this year and had appeared in 76 of the High-A High Desert Mavericks first 77 games this season before the injury.
He was leading the club and had established career highs in hits (102), doubles (23) and RBI (75) while posting a .330/.387/.599 triple slash on the season, which included an .826 OPS in road games and a .924 OPS versus left-handed pitching.
The 23-year old left-handed hitter — who was the California League Player of the Week for June 6th-12th with a .519/.536/1.222 mark that included five home runs — is one of the most promising power bats in the Mariners system.
Raben posted about his trip to Seattle to find out “what procedure I need done” on Twitter yesterday.
